Here’s an idea that shows how we can deliver Object VR content without having to resort to forcing a site visitor to go get Quicktime. Flash and 3D is a match made in heaven!
Using Flash and creating a video of the full rotation of an object, we can create a full 360×180 degree object rotator.
An additional feature lets us click on the image to download a high quality JPG of the current frame. The site visitor can easily rotate the object in a Flash file that is relatively small, and still get to see top quality images when they request them.
Here’s a couple of demos at low and medium quality:
These demos are built using computer generated rings with diamonds (they are not photos), but they could just as easily be captured by any quality photographer with the right camera rig. (We did a similar thing with the WA Museum.)
To do this for a jewellers, we would add this link to a product page so that site visitors could see the sexyness of the jewellery.
To make people comfortable about their online purchase, this could be direct marketed by sending out ring size templates with the site URL. Visitors would be confident that their rings would fit when they get them.
Want more info? We have a tutorial that covers some of these ideas here (it’s the Object VR one at the bottom of the page). Or you can contact us now!
